Interview with young and ambitious Carla Orsi:

I have known Carla for years and recently when reconnecting with her in Florida I learned a lot about her drive and determination as a hair stylist and make-up artist.  Beyond that I was surprised to learn about many challenges she had faced since moving to a new state, learning about and struggling with a gluten allergy, and through it all working hard and going after her dreams on her own.  That is why she is certainly young and ambitious! (and my go to girl next time I am in Florida and need to look my best!)

1. Share what it is that you do.

I am a professional hair stylist and makeup artist, which has been my dream since I can remember! From coloring my Barbies’s hair when I was like 6, to coloring and cutting my friends and families hair when I was in high school! I always had a passion for it. It’s crazy to think that I am actually doing what I had pictured myself doing growing up.

2. What accomplishments are you most proud of, thus far?

Well, I have been through a lot to get to the point  I’m at so far in life, but have to say I am most proud of myself for just being a hard worker in general. About a year ago I made a huge move to come down to Florida (by myself) and basically peruse a new life! That doesn’t mean I randomly packed my car and drove down on whim- It actually took lot of planning, thinking, and money that I worked my a** of for!! Lol.. but really.. I had a few friends down here, some who I lost quickly in the beginning, along with a downward spiral of let’s just say extremely BAD LUCK haha. Hardships that could’ve easily made me give up and move back home. At one point I literally thought that maybe Florida was just not “meant to be” for me… but I am so proud to say that I kept pushing and figured it out for myself… and am still here! (until my next adventure ;p)

 4. What or who inspires your passion and drive?

That is a great question! Because there are a lot of people that inspire me.. but my number one has to be my dad; I guess you could call me a daddy’s girl..haha ..but not in the “run to daddy for help and money when I’m in trouble type”. Meaning he has been through it all in life.. completely on his own..and made it out okay. And that assures me that so can I. 🙂

5. What keeps you motivated?

I believe the only person who can motivate you is YOU. But it definitely helps to have a strong support system.. whether its family or friends, I am thankful to have great people in life that motivate me every day. Along with yoga… music.. and cooking- my fav stress relievers!

6. What is your favorite quote?

“Life Is what you make of it” – which I also have tattooed on my back, means  exactly what it says. You are the only one in control of your actions, emotions, and well being.. so its up to yourself to make your life how you want it to be. (Unless you are a Kardashian and get paid to be hot hahaha)

7. What are you working on NOW?

So right now I’m currently working full time at an upscale salon in Fort Lauderdale, while I free lance to build my portfolio outside of the salon doing photo-shoot styling and networking events. I will be taking advanced educational classes with Bumble and Bumble this coming spring which I am super excited about!! And a few nights a week I’m serving at this cute little restaurant, Canyon… so I’m pretty busy.. but I love the hustle!

8. What are your ultimate goals?

8. Short term- to be happy and healthy.. I don’t care if that sounds cliché, but its true… and long term goal I am currently saving up to travel! I want to go everywhere, but first I would like to explore Europe.. specifically Italy.. Greece.. Paris.. and hopefully take some type of classes out there to learn other hairstyling techniques.

9. Since allure and cure embraces some guilty pleasure,

What is YOUR guilty pleasure?

Hahaha my guilty pleasure… having a lazy day!! Where I do not leave my apartment, post up on my couch.. and eat everything I shouldn’t… pizza… ice cream…cookies.. and loads of peanut butter lmao -all being gluten and dairy free ( and extremely expensive!! grrrrr)

10. Do you have a fitness and/or health practice that is important to you?

Well like I said before, working out and yoga is a stress reliever for me.. I try to do it at least 2-3 times a week.. but we all have those ruts we get in where we find every single reason NOT to work out lol. But as far as being healthy, I am pretty much forced to eat clean, starting about a year and a half ago, when I was diagnosed with a gluten allergy. Just when I though it couldn’t get worse, about 5 months ago I discovered I could no longer have dairy either.. so although they make millions of “gf” options in health stores they are so freaking expensive. So I usually just create my own little concoctions consisting of whole foods-fruits, vegs, and proteins. Yes it gets exhausting cooking everyday, but I usually meal prep for a busy week when I am on the go.. and when I have extra time I will make something super intense lol.
